What Food Should I Avoid on Keto/Low Carb Diet?

what not to eat on low carb high fat diet

Note: I’m on maintenance and not following strict Keto diet as of writing but still eating Low Carb. I welcome everyone who does LCHF diet differently. But if you are overweight, I highly suggest you follow Keto to get optimal results sooner. Thus I will be writing the foods you should avoid when following the Keto Diet.

Grains & Starch

Grains and starch should be avoided in Keto diet as they are high in carbohydrates and Glycemic Index. Always read the labels if you are not sure of the food you are buying. Here’s the list:

  • Rice
  • Wheat
  • Corn
  • Soybean
  • Barley
  • Oats
  • Millet
  • Quinoa
  • Rye
  • Bran
  • Potatoes
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Cereals
  • Peas
  • Soybean
  • Taro
  • Cassava
  • Plaintains
  • Green Bananas

  • Cane Sugar
  • Coconut Sugar
  • Palm Sugar
  • Blackstrap Molasses
  • Honey

Milk is high in sugar which is a carbohydrate. So you cannot have milk.

Most Fruits

Most fruits are also high in sugar so you cannot eat them while on a low carb diet. You can eat berries occasionally because they are low in carbohydrates and high in fiber.
